

I'm afraid that just changing drivers would not help if they don't have proper adjustments. Installs the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver and Intel® Smart Sound Technology (Intel® SST) driver for the 3. Chrystal ones give strongest signal and magnetic are the noisiest and least sensitive, Also it's not unheard of that some MBs are "noisier" and more sensitive to electrical noise than some other ones. There are at least 3 types of microphones, Dynamic (magnetic), Chrystal and capacitive, the last one being most common for computers and such devices.

I know that one of mine is noisy when gain is adjusted too high but the other one is not at same settings. Don't know what's control panel for that driver and if there's any but maybe you can try to adjust mic gain and or try another microphone. Loose or damaged ground on mic cable or connector can do that.

First thing would be to ascertain that microphone is not damaged and works fine somewhere else, (first things, first, I always say). I might not be of much help further because I didn't have or worked with VIA sound for some time but there are some things you can check. So, if you installed drivers for the USB3 one, they should be appropriate ones as they are for Win8, (they work for you I assume ) but microphone is making buzzing sound which I think is not directly result of drivers. Drivers for MB with USB3 (probably newer one) is for Win8 and for the USB3 one is for XP/Vista/win7. 1 I have downloaded the latest realtek driver from guru3d (2.82). Ok, just looked at the specs for both MBs, they both have same codec chip, only Realtec on them is for network, so that's ruled out.
